1972 - (aka WHEN THE SCREAMING STOPPED) - A good old-fashioned monster movie containing the best elements of The Gorgon, It the Terror From Beyond Space, Werewolf in a Girls Dormitory, and dare we say it…Beach Girls & the Monster. First you’ve got a lovely woman who, at certain times, transforms into an ancient monster as spoken of in mythical lore. What’s cool is that this beast is a really scary, snarling lizard-type monster that rips apart local citizens with alarming ferocity. Most of the action centers in-and-about a forest-shrouded girls’ school filled with bikini-clad beauties. Kendall is the good-looking security specialist who has been hired to protect the girls from the monster. Line plays the mysterious, beautiful siren, Lorelei, who tries to win Kendall’s love by seductively drawing him to her gothic cave. However, he is torn between his love for her and his growing suspicion of whom she really is. Line, who was in her thirties at the time, is simply stunning as she prances about the mysterious forest wearing only a bikini and body veil. Not a 4-star classic, but still a fun movie and the best Euro-horror film we’ve seen in a long time. Mucho recommended. Rated R. Color, 16mm.
