1936 - (Universal) - FINALLY, a good quality copy of this obscure Lugosi crime thriller. Our new video master comes from an original 35mm nitrate print and looks ten times better than our previous master. There are a few spliced spots, but overall this is a huge improvement. Postal Inspector is a fun little B thriller with Bela as the shady owner of a posh nightclub. After being threatened with death by another mobster over a bad debt, Bela and his boys pull off a three million-dollar heist! Cortez is the tough postal inspector who tracks him down. Ellis, Lugosi’s nightclub singer, is so appealing it’s not even funny—a real classy looking dame. The finale is quite memorable and features a motorboat chase through a flooded city as the Feds try to nab Bela. Definitely recommended. From 35mm.
