Starring Scott McKay as Wilbur Pope, Sandra White as Carlotta Pope and the voice of Allan 'Rocky' Lane as Mr. Ed. This is the original pilot for Mr. Ed. After moving to their new home in Los Angeles, Wilbur and Carlotta Pope find an unexpected resident, a horse named Mr. Ed, left by the previous owner. Wilbur discovers the horse can talk but he is the only human Mr. Ed likes well enough to talk to. This pilot set the premise for the series that followed in 1960.

Starring Alan Young, Connie Hines and the voice of Allan 'Rocky' Lane as Mr. Ed. In this rare episode of Mr. Ed presented by The United Savings Bonds Division of the Treasury Department, Wilbur is hired to deliver a speech to the employees of a company encouraging them to buy savings bonds, but Ed tells him he isn't sincere because he doesn't own any bonds.
"A 'pilot' is a film made by a producer who wants to pitch the idea for a TV series to the networks. If the network likes the pilot, or if they air the pilot and it gets good response, the producer gets a deal to make more episodes based on the pilot... usually 13 or 26, which will then be aired. If those do well in the ratings the network will request more episodes for a series. Many pilots get made every year, some make it to the air - most don't.
