Two western TV shows that champion the theme 'Courage and character will triumph over tyranny and evil.'
- Rifleman - Episode Title: Mail Order Groom (January 12, 1960) - Directed by Arthur Hiller - Starring: Chuck Connors, Johnny Crawford, Paul Fix - Guest starring: Peter Whitney, Alice Backus, John Anderson, Sandy Kenyon, and Monty Montana - With a really slick trick rifle Lucas McCain is always there to help the seeming inept local law enforcement, incapable of handling desperados and bandits. All Lucas McCain (Connors) wants to do is grow crops and raise his 12-year-old boy, Mark. In this episode a spinster sends for a mail order groom, but then fears she's made a mistake and gotten herself a wimp incapable of handling the local bullies. The man, who thinks he's too ugly to attract a bride, turns out to not be a wimp at all. And when he gets mad, he gets REALLY mad. Rifelman first ran on ABC from September 30, 1958 to July 1 1963 for a total of 168 episodes.
- Wyatt Earp - Episode title: The Assassins - Starring Hugh O'Brien as the famous Arizona lawman. The series first aired on ABC from September 6, 1955 to September 26, 1961.
