Two very funny shows form the 1950's.

  • The Jack Benny Show (1950-1977) Jack had been a regular on network radio since 1932. He moved his show, with most characters intact, to TV. His stinginess, bad violin playing, feigned surprise to lifes little surprises were better on TV than they had been on the radio. His TV show ran irregularly, sometimes once a week, sometimes once a month, sometimes only ten times a year, but he was on from October 28, 1950 to August 30, 1977. If you consider the time he was on network radio until the last network TV show... he had a show going from 1932 to 1977. 47 years with a regular show. Not bad at all. Jack's guest is Bob Hope.

  • The Dennis Day Show Episode title, 'Grandpa Day'. Starting in 1953, The RCA Victor Show changed it's name to The Dennis Day Show. Dennis was a single bachelor who lived in an apartment in Hollywood that was just beyond his means, but he felt it was necessary for his image and strategic to making it big in show business. Charlie Weaver was the janitor in his building.
