Two very funny shows from the early 1950's.

  • The Jack Benny Show (1950-1977) Jack had been a regular on network radio since 1932. He moved his show, with most characters intact, to TV. His stinginess, bad violin playing, feigned surprise to lifes little surprises were better on TV than they had been on the radio. His TV show ran irregularly, sometimes once a week, sometimes once a month, sometimes only ten times a year, but he was on from October 28, 1950 to August 30, 1977. If you consider the time he was on network radio until the last network TV show... he had a show going from 1932 to 1977. 47 years with a regular show. Not bad at all. Humphrey Bogart guests with Benny

  • The Burns and Allen Show (1950) This is the pilot episode of George and Gracie's show. George and Gracie had one of the most enduring acts in history. They started out in Vaudeville in the 1920's, moved to radio in the 1930's and 1940's, then, for almost a decade in the 1950's. This situation comedy ran from October 12, 1950 to September 22, 1958 when Gracie decided that she'd finally had enough and retired.
